Zach's Theme Park Blog 5-4-2010

Hello and welcome to Zach’s Theme Park Blog where I try desperately to make friends.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Lake Buena Vista, FL) has reached the end of their recent legal battle over their “Tower of Terror” ride, when the state of Florida ruled the attraction is safe. Considering the plaintiff was suing the “concept of the ride” it would be nearly impossible for the state of Florida to screw this one up. http://tinyurl.com/25pjoab
Beech Bend (Bowling Green, KY) will not be opening this weekend due to flooding. The attitude of the park can pretty much be summed up by the quote from the park owner in the article; "Its floated a couple of our buildings away…once the water goes down probably take twenty to twenty-five guys with wash wagons and brooms." You’ve got to love Kentucky. http://tinyurl.com/25ammjx
Sea World (Orlando, FL) has a new VP of operations, so those lines better move faster. http://tinyurl.com/2aus7le
Lake Compounce (Bristol, CT) is going to possibly get a tax break for their planned expansion. I offer their local government a high five for this idea. http://tinyurl.com/25f26rn
Cedar Point (Sandusky, OH) now has an unofficial iPhone app for tracking wait times. Here’s the catch; it’s all based on user submissions, so for gravy’s sake submit your wait times! http://tinyurl.com/2f4eb7r
Ghost Town in the Sky (Maggie Valley, NC) may see new life as a bid offer has been made to purchase the park. Freestyle Music Park waves middle finger in direction of Maggie Valley. http://tinyurl.com/2cecz6g
Busch Gardens Tampa (Tampa, FL) gave a preview of Howl-O-Scream this past weekend as a part of HauntCon. In related news I am currently accepting donations to fund my journalistic coverage of next years HauntCon. http://tinyurl.com/2cy9bhs
Universal Studios Orlando (Orlando, FL) gave a small hint to Halloween Horror Nights 20 which will be taking place this October during HauntCon saying “a tree.” Yep, that was exciting. http://tinyurl.com/24xgs6o
Silver Dollar City (Branson, MO) is over the hill! http://tinyurl.com/2adzaz9
Quassy Amusement Park (Middlebury, CT) is paying tribute to Mothers on Mother’s Day by offering free admission and dinner for mothers. No word on if the offer applies if you plan to become a mother on the feris wheel. http://tinyurl.com/236ry9x
Flamingo Land’s (Yorkshire, UK) Mumbo Jumbo roller coaster got stuck upside down for twenty minutes due to a poncho stuck in the wheels. My question is who the hell is throwing ponchos at roller coasters?! http://tinyurl.com/2ahwrl3
            Tourism industry is growing!  http://tinyurl.com/2brmlzb , http://tinyurl.com/2a5exzv , http://tinyurl.com/294jvey
Here’s something to get everyone excited about the Halloween season thanks to HauntCon
